LocalBusiness Schema

Last reviewed: 2026-06-14

LocalBusiness Schema LocalBusiness is the Schema.org type for brick-and-mortar businesses — restaurants, salons, clinics, hotels, and other physical-location services.

LocalBusiness is the Schema.org type that represents a physical-location business and its core attributes — name, address, opening hours, services, contact information. It is the most important Schema.org type for any small business that wants to be cited by AI assistants in "near me" or location-specific queries.

Google requires only name and address for LocalBusiness to be recognized, but the broader practical recommendation includes: the most specific subtype available (Restaurant, Dentist, DaySpa, Store, etc. — Schema.org has 200+ subtypes), full PostalAddress (street, locality, region, postal code, country), geo coordinates at 5+ decimal places, openingHoursSpecification (per day, including special days), telephone, priceRange (a string like "$$" or "¥1000-3000"), image, and url.

For entity disambiguation — particularly important for AI citation — add a sameAs array linking to your Wikidata Q-item, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn page, Facebook page, and any industry-specific directories where the business is listed. Sameas is what lets AI assistants connect "Studio Aki Hair" on your website with "Studio Aki Hair" in their training data.

LocalBusiness markup pairs well with separate Service nodes (one per offering you provide) and a separate Person node (for the owner or key staff member). The combined entity-graph helps AI assistants answer specific questions ("does Dr. Tanaka still work there?", "do they offer balayage?") rather than just generic location lookups.
